Celebrating World Adoption Day

World Adoption Day, a global celebration of adoption and family, takes place every November 9. At Carrot, it’s a day we’re excited to celebrate with our members — we know adoption, while incredibly rewarding, can also be quite complicated and involve many years of planning. We work with our members to provide the proper guidance on the home studies, paperwork, legal navigation, and travel to help reduce that potentially-significant financial and emotional burden. As of today, we support members in 60+ countries through the adoption process.

Today, we’re joining the global community in celebrating adoption by shining a light on our U.S. partners helping Carrot members build their families through adoption.

PairTree

Two-time adoptive parent Erin Quick founded PairTree to modernize the adoption experience and make it more equitable and affordable for everyone involved. PairTree is an intelligent self-matching and support platform, where adoptive parents and birth parents in the U.S. connect to build a direct relationship with one another. LifePair™, PairTree’s proprietary connection system, evaluates 120 unique personality attributes to inform an adoptive parent’s personality type. Expectant parents select the personality type that best aligns with the things they care about most. Once a match has been made, the adoptive parents and birth parents work with an attorney and agency to finalize the adoption. On average, self-matching shortens the time and cost to adopt by 87% — which can help make adoption a reality for more people. Any adoption professional listed on PairTree has certified that they’re a licensed adoption attorney or adoption agency that will work with all home-study-approved families, including LGBTQ+ families and single individuals. For members of the LGBTQ+ community, PairTree shared adoption tips specific for LGBTQ+ couples and individuals.

Friends in Adoption

Friends in Adoption (FIA) is a U.S. non-profit, licensed agency whose goal is to help people make informed decisions concerning adoption. FIA works with both interested adoptive parents and pregnant people or couples considering placing their children with adoptive families. FIA operates locations in New York and Vermont and provides complete personal support and guidance to prospective adoptive parents throughout the U.S.

Children’s House International

Children’s House International is a U.S.-based, Hague accredited, non-profit international adoption agency. The agency is licensed for local services and adoption in six U.S. states and 13 countries and has placed more than 2,000 children in families worldwide.

Vista Del Mar

Vista Del Mar's U.S.-licensed and accredited adoption program encompasses foster care and foster-to-adoption, international services, and domestic infant adoption, including birth parent options counseling and support services. As the oldest adoption agency in Southern California, Vista Del Mar has decades of experience supporting a range of adoption journeys. Vista Del Mar shared advice for prospective adoptive parents living with disabilities for Disability Pride Month in July.

Legal services

In addition to adoption agencies and matching services, Carrot members also have access to legal support from law firms and attorneys specializing in adoption. Individuals and couples pursuing adoption may choose to pursue a private/independent adoption on their own with guidance from an attorney or use legal services in addition to working with an adoption agency. Carrot’s legal partners can connect with Carrot members at any point in their adoption journey and discuss the pros and cons of different options based on their individual needs.

Whether you’ve just started considering adoption or you’re several steps in, Carrot is here to help. If you’re a Carrot member, log into your account to set up a chat with a Carrot Expert and learn how we can support you and your family-forming goals.
