The Carrot Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Team is a small but mighty team that works together to build up the financial infrastructure and processes at Carrot. An important member of this team is Carrot’s FP&A Manager Rose Cheng (she/her).
Based in Seattle, Rose manages the budget and reforecast, as well as key metrics reporting for internal and external stakeholders.
We sat down with Rose to learn a bit more about her experiences, her favorite parts of working at Carrot, and how she uses her Carrot benefit.
When did you join Carrot?
I started at Carrot in January of 2022.
Why did you join Carrot?
I joined Carrot because I was so impressed by the caliber of people I spoke to during the interview process and how highly they spoke of the Carrot leadership team. I was looking for a high-growth company that was supported by a strong team, and I found it at Carrot. I am also constantly blown away by the incredible mission-driven people that work here.
What is the best thing about your job?
The best thing about my job is the creativity that comes with being an initial finance team member, and truly feeling like I have a seat at the table. Instead of just picking up others’ models and dashboards, I get to have conversations on whether we are evaluating the business the right way and have the ability to talk through my ideas on how to measure Carrot’s financial success. Our rapid growth is also very exciting because it continually challenges me to think through whether something established six months ago is still the right way to think about things.
What is your favorite perk about working at Carrot?
My favorite perk about working at Carrot is having a great balance of the flexibility of working from home, coupled with Carrot’s dedication to fostering a sense of community with a distributed workforce. Carrot employees are empowered to meet other Carrots in person, whether it is Carrots getting together for a happy hour, attending a Women in Finance summit to hear our CFO speak on a panel, or spending a few days in Nashville at our team offsite.
How would you describe Carrot’s culture?
Positive, supportive, thoughtful, and mission-driven.
What do you appreciate the most about working at Carrot?
I really appreciate being surrounded by colleagues that have a sincere passion for Carrot’s mission. I truly feel like Carrot makes a difference in people’s lives, and I love that at the core of the decisions we make are the people we are helping.
